Rayzist® Custom
Mask Stencils are prepared with SR2000™ photo resist film ready to
adhere to the substrate you will be sandcarving. The adhesive we use has been specially formulated to provide an aggressive bond while blasting away quickly and cleaning up easily - without the need for a "resist remover." Always
clean the substrate about to be sandcarved. |

Using a pressure pot
system normal blasting pressures range from 25-35psi for most
items. Hold the nozzle about 4"-6" away and carve in a small
circular pattern across the entire design. Once the clear membrane has
been removed (you will see it turn white and disappear rapidly) continue
to carve in smooth, even strokes across the design area of the photomask.
Continue until the desired depth is achieved. Although our
photomasks are exceptionally durable, holding the nozzle in one place too
long can over-heat and burn through the mask, leaving a speckled effect in
the item. Remember, you can not blast deeper than a line (area of a
design) is wide. 150 grit aluminum oxide works best for carving a wide
variety of substrates. Typical blasting pressures for siphon systems are 60-75psi. Photomasks can be removed by either pulling it off or by soaking for a few minutes in hot soapy water. |
