LazerMask™ Overview

LazerMask™ is specifically designed for shops with both a Laser Engraver and a Sandcarving Cabinet. With LazerMask™ you are able to leverage accuracy of the laser along with the depth of the sandcarving process This is truly the best of both worlds in one easy process.

  • LazerMask™ is a sand resist film, unlike polyester based films used today
  • LazerMask™ is unique water based sand resist unlike anything on the market today
  • LazerMask™ does not contain PVC which will corrode the lasers hardware like vinyl's or rubber resists
  • LazerMask™ has the same resistant qualities as photoresist film
  • LazerMask™ is a translucent color made for easy alignment
  • LazerMask™ is flexible and pliable for easy application to curved surfaces
  • LazerMask™ burns clean and quickly
  • LazerMask™ easily achieves paint fill depths

LazerMask™ is a non-PVC sandcarving film that won’t corrode your laser’s hardware. With LazerMask™ you can utilize the accuracy and precision of a laser engraver to reproduce images into glass, crystal, and stone while retaining the beauty and depth of traditional sandcarving.

To use LazerMask™ sandcarving film, you need a laser engraver and a sandcarving system similar to our 1924 or 2034VX production models. (Visit for more information on sandcarving units).

LazerMask™ has blast resilient properties equal to Rayzist’s photoresist films.

Laser Guidelines:

Wattage and resolution settings will effect laser burning times, results may vary.

Low wattage Lasers - 25-35 watt 45-65% Speed x 100% Power

Mid – High wattage Lasers - 40-80 watt 80% Speed x 70-100% Power

Recommended Supplies:

Plastic burnisher: a hand-held, plastic tool used to bind the photomask to the substrate surface and remove the clear carrier sheet from photomask. To use, sweep the burnisher over the applied photomask while applying gentle pressure.

How do you wrap the laser mask on a round or curved surface?

Applying a flat mask to a rounded surface will naturally create some wrinkles.

What I typically do with curvature items is:

  • Separate the plastic backing from your LaserMask material you are going to use, this will eliminate the non-flexible component and give you a little more flexiblity to work with.
  • Apply the flexible LaserMask to your substrate.
  •  With your thumbs work out any wrinkles.
