FAQs

Can the 50lb Portable Pressure Pot be used with any existing sand blast cabinet?

The 50lb Pressure Pot can be used with an existing sand blast cabinet. It is a great option to move from a siphon system to a pressure system. The Pressure Pot includes the same foot pedal, regulator and sandblast hose as the Rayzist sandcarving systems.

When sandblasting on-site what protection is recommended?

It is recommended for a sandblaster to have proper protection while sandblasting outside of the cabinet or in an open area. An air fed hood with respirator is highly recommended with gloves. Mask, goggles and gloves are recommended when operating the 50lb Pressure Pot.

Is the 50lb Portable Pressure Pot durable?

This Portable Pressure Pot is epoxy powder coated which is the highest metal treatment available. The Portable Pressure Pot is also ACME certified ensuring a quality pressure vessel. The Pressure Pot is built with heavy duty hoses, foot pedal and many other parts that makes a well manufactured sandblasting pressure pot that will provide many years of use.

Is it hard to reload the blasting media into the Pressure Pot?

The 50lb Pressure Pot comes with a sifting screen. Place the sifting screen on the pressure pot and pour the recycled abrasive through the sifting screen. The screen will capture any debris from entering the pressure pot.

As a portable unit, blasting on-site, are there any other on-off foot pedal options?

The 50lb Portable Pressure Pot includes a standard foot pedal with long hoses for a traditional on/off function. Another option for the blaster is using a Kick Plate Foot Pedal from Rayzist. The blaster’s foot easily engages the kick plate to an ON position without stepping on the pedal. The ON position will engage the sand flow. Once the blaster steps on the foot pedal the sand flow will stop. The kick plate foot pedal is convenient for long blasting projects.

Can you use different media and grit/mesh sizes with the 50lb Pressure Pot?

Aluminum Oxide, Silicon Carbide, Garnet, Glass Bead and other types of media can be used with the Pressure Pot. Grit size from 220 grit – 60 grit abrasive can be used in the pressure pot. A coarser media will cause your parts to wear faster.

Feature

Portable

The pressure pot is designed to travel or move easily in shop or onsite.

50 lb. Pressure Pot

The Portable Pressure Pot has the capacity for 50 lbs. of abrasive. The pressure pot is popular among monument businesses due to the compact style and can be easily moved through a memorial park or cemetery.

Large Rubber Wheels

The large rubber wheels provide ease of movement through grass, snow, mud and/or any rough terrain ground. Pressure pot is designed to travel in a truck or trailer and easily pull to onsite projects.

Heavy Duty Blast Hose

The 10 ft. heavy duty hose is flexible and provides adequate sand flow and longer blasting usage.

Pressure Regulator/Water Separator

This unit regulates the amount of air pressure and sand flow (PSI) being sent to your blasting hose/nozzle and efficiently separates the water content. We have combined the two functions into one unit to minimize space. Standard features include an auto-relieving moisture drain to remove water drops and oil from compressed air, a push-down locking adjustment knob to change pressure settings, pressure gauge, liquid level indicator and manual relieving valve.

Blasting Pressure

Blasting pressure is regulated and provides the ability to blast at 5 PSI to 90 PSI due to the demand required from monument blasters. The pressure can be regulated adjusting the air inlet ball valve.

Carbide Nozzle

The durable 3/32-inch carbide nozzle is versatile and easy to use for any sandcarving project. It comes with an adapter and O-ring.

Abrasive 220grit to 80grit

Pressure pot has the capability to process 220 grit to 80grit.

Sifting Ring

A metal sifting ring with a durable mesh screen is placed on top of pressure pot when refilling pressure pot with recycled abrasive.

Foot Pedal

This foot pedal remains on the floor next to your foot of choice and provides stability while standing. The foot pedal is mobile and can be moved or adjusted to any comfortable standing or seated position.

Foot Switch Valve

This footswitch valve provides longer performance and is very low maintenance in comparison to the former footswitch valve. It also optimizes air and sand flow to your hoses.

Epoxy Powder Coated

The pressure pot is Epoxy Powder Coated with a two-tone epoxy powder coated for durable and resistant finish.

Powder Coating is a process called "Electrostatic Spray Deposition" (ESD) and is used to achieve the application of the epoxy powder coating to a metal substrate. An epoxy resin is cross-linked with a co-reactant or hardener, which when properly catalyzed and applied, the epoxies produce a hard, chemical and solvent resistant finish. This application method uses a spray gun, which applies an electrostatic charge to the powder particles, which are then attracted to the grounded part.
Powder coating results in a thick, dense finish on metal products which are more durable and last longer than conventional or industrial painting. Rayzist Photomask spends the extra effort and costs to ensure every sandcarving and automatic washout system is epoxy powder coated to produce the most durable finish.

Support

Why does the abrasive and air continue to flow when the foot pedal is disengaged?

A - Confirm the air compressor output pressure is set to a minimum of 90PSI to Sandcarving System.
B - If the air compressor output pressure is set correctly, next confirm the tube sleeve inside Foot Switch Valve has not worn through creating a pinhole.

Why has air and abrasive stopped flowing out of the nozzle when the foot pedal is engaged?

The most common issue is a clog. A clog can consist of a small piece of sandcarving film or debris. Follow the steps below to unclog the blasting stream.
A. Remove nozzle and nozzle holder. Look through nozzle and confirm that there is no obstruction. If nozzle is clear, set aside and proceed to following steps.
B. Close sandflow valve
C. Open air flow valve 100%
D. Set on pedal
E. If no air flows through sandblast hose, open the sandflow valve and close the blasting air valve. Increase blasting pressure 5-10PSI and step on foot pedal.
F. Once clog is removed reset air and sand valves, replace nozzle.

Is it normal to have large burst of abrasive come out of my nozzle during sandcarving?

A burst of abrasive is normal when first stepping on the foot pedal. If there is a burst of abrasive during sandcarving then the sand flow valve is open more than the airflow valve and the sandflow valve needs to close slightly. Close sandflow valve about a 1/4" and step on the foot pedal for 20-30 seconds.

Why does it seem have more air than sand/abrasive coming out of the nozzle?

If it appears the air is taking over the sand flow stream then close the airflow valve slightly about a 1/4". Step on the pedal for 20-30 seconds and repeat if air is still taking over sandflow. The sandflow and airflow valve should be at equal parts, 50%.
